Our visit to Gaurishankar Conservation Area to the east of Kathmandu was perfectly tailor-made thanks to Birga our guide at Majestic Himalaya. We spent several days at Bigu Nunnery, in the simple but brilliant accommodation there (possibly the best solar hot shower in Nepal!!) Birga made sure our trip went smoothly, planning short hikes in the locale including to a beautiful sunrise viewing spot, to Bigu village and surrounding area. Birga was flexible and helpful throughout our trip, getting local knowledge ensuring the best accommodation and food available. This is an ideal non-strenuous cultural trek if you want to get off the beaten track and see some less visited areas in Nepal. Highly recommend.
Had a few days to explore Lumbini and stay in a monastery there. All organised by Dilip, the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guide. Lumbini Buddhist site and wider surroundings are special places whether you’re a practicing Buddhist or not, and Dilip has been involved with the development of the site for many years, so gave lots of information and advice to enrich the trip. Thank you.
Had an excellent adventure with Majestic Himalaya in Upper Mustang! We’ve enjoyed deafening silence, magnificent views and scenery, ancient monasteries, Tibetan culture alive and well and organic locally grown food at many places! Our guide Birga was friendly, knowledgable, attentive without being intrusive, and flexible with our trekking routes and other advice. Can’t recommend Majestic Himalaya and Upper Mustang enough!
After a relaxing weekend at Begnas Lake we have travelled south to Lumbini, not too far from the Indian border. Lumbini is the birth place of Buddha, we toured around historical sites and temples with our very knowledgeable guide Dilip Lumbini is certainly somewhere I’d visit again. We have also been to Dhampus a remote village a 2 hour bone rattling drive from Pokhara then a walk into the village. Stunningly peaceful with the most amazing views. We were excited to see the mountains last night, just a smidge of a view; the clouds were still hiding them. We woke to beautiful clear skies and the most breathtaking majestic views. My words and photos do not do justice. Hann and Winston trekked to Australia Base Camp and I wandered around the village and tried reading but those mountains… I spent most of the time in awe of the world around me and some reflective soul searching.
There was a little school behind our guesthouse and I was captured by the children arriving for school, playing chasies and then a couple of ‘naughty’ boys who needed their teacher to stand quietly beside them during the morning assembly. I laughed- it’s the same the world over.
Thank you so much Dilip, you have been a brilliant guide and it has been so lovely to meet you. Thank you for the pictures they are great and also thank you for all the photos you have taken for us, we have many memories there to last a lifetime. I will definitely recommend you to anyone that comes to Nepal, hope to see you again.
Just returned from a fabulous and exhilarating trek with Majestic Himalaya. They took me to the Mahakuklung region in East Nepal, the southern part of Everes, Nepal. A trek which was special to me for personal reasons and which their organisation of accommodation home stays, well prepared food and porters and guide support was excellent. Many thanks Majestic Himalaya entire team.
I left the hotel fairly earlier, accompanied by my awesome guide, Dilip Kulung. It was already pretty hot, but I have never let Asia’s high temperature detract my determination to visit historical sites, monuments, temples and ruins… And there was no way I would hesitate to visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha here in Lumbini. It took pretty much the full day to cover the three zones. There is LOTS to see there and I did not miss much of it: from the Cultural Center, to the birthplace itself (Mayadevi Temple) to all the international monasteries in both the West Monastic and East Monastic Zones, as well as Japan’s Peace Pagoda. The place is impressive beyond words… I am not a religious person by nature, but I love to study religions, and so a trip to Buddha’s birthplace was a no-brainer since I was already visiting Nepal. If you ever decide to go, get in touch with Dilip S. Kulung at Lumbini Development Trust. He is also Marketing Director for Majectic Himalaya Treks & Expeditions… I have never had a more qualified guide in my life and I have been around 63 countries so far. That alone should give you an idea of this guide’s competence! An incredible place to visit while in Nepal !!
We went to visit Nepal for our Honey Moon tour, we met Dilip. He is a wonderful guide! We laughed a lot with him and he’s a perfect photographer!! We spent a lot of good time with him. We love him! Dilip is very gentle, and it is not difficult to communicate with him if you don’t know English very well. He taught us some Nepali words too and he brought us in a delicious typical restaurant! Dilip is a force of nature and the time just flew. Thanks Dilip!!!
“Our one week Langtang Valley trek with Majestic Himalaya was just incredible! As first time trekkers in Nepal we were somewhat nervous about the experience. However from the off set they were thorough in meeting with us, explaining the (very reasonable) costs, daily itinerary and what we needed to bring. Our guide, Birga, really knows his stuff! He was very professional, throughly took care of us from trekking, ensuring we had the best possible lodgings, and making sure our food was cooked well. He was also great fun, with a wonderful sense of humour and very friendly. He even made a few changes to the itinerary towards the end of our trip to fit our interests and fitness levels. The Langtang Valley trek itself was mind blowing. The level was challenging but also manageable, with Birga providing regular breaks and checking in on us and our pace frequently, something we witnessed some guides neglecting to do. You get to see a huge variety of landscapes, from lush green jungle and waterfalls all the way to ice capped mountains. Lodgings picked out by Birga were all of a good standard and generally better than we expected! Some with jaw dropping views that we certainly won’t forget. Additionally the people we met along the way were wonderful. We enjoyed many a night around the wood burning stove playing cards with other guests and guides. Overall we felt very safe, comfortable, well fed and utterly blown away by this wonderful experience. I can’t thank Majestic Himalaya and Birga enough.Hope to see you all again!”
