In the 2-part Monastic Zone, divided into Mahayana and Theravada zones, stand ornate temples, stupas and monasteries built with funds from Buddhist sources in many different countries. Each is unique, most reflecting the architecture of the parent country. Some are completed, many still under construction, and some just beginning to be built. The most visited of these, at least when I was there in January, were the Golden Lotus stupa complex (Germany) and the Chinese monastery complex. Our tour leader Dilip was so knowledgeable and friendly person. I would highly recommend Dilip and Majestic Himalaya.
This was a magical experience and we had the whole site to ourselves. We were met at the hotel by our guide, Dillip and two rickshaw to take us to the Monastic Site. After a short ride we arrived at the first temple, the birth place of Budda. Dillip was a first class guide and full of the history of the place. We had photos taken outside under the Budda Tree and then on for a full day around all the Temples of the site, most of which where built by various Countries. Some of the temples where quite breath taking. We had a wonderful time and it was all due to our guide. I was surprised how quiet and relaxing it was . It could be down to the Karma of Budda or the shear lack of tourists. This area was not touched by the earthquake and is a must see.
Amazing place ! 3rd century BC ancient monuments are the most interesting. There are more than 25 international Buddhist monasteries from different Buddhist countries. Unbelievable to see different Buddhist cultures, arts, architecture in one place. Thanks a lot Majestic Himalaya and Dilip taking us there.
Recently we did amazing cultural tour including Buddha’s birthplace Lumbini. Lumbini is the timeless place, land of compassion and fountain of world peace. In kapalivastu, we have seen a group of archeologist from UK were excavating the ancient Shakya’s palace. Chitwan national park was another biggest attraction of the trip. From Pokhara we saw massive mountain peaks including Fish Tail. Thanks a lot Majestic Himalaya and Dilip, our guide. He is so friendly, funny and knowledgeable tour leader.
Amazing people, amazing scenery and amazing memories. Thanks a lot to Majestic Himalaya for organizing the trek and making everything work and being very flexible with options galore. Thanks to Dilip, our tour guide with his endless concern who did an excellent job of keeping us safe. Also thanks to our porters, sorry! I forgot names each of them. Without these amazing individuals it wouldn’t have been half as good. Some of the best laughs were had in the tea huts singing Resham firirim, Nepali folk song. I would highly recommend these guys and Majestic Himalaya.
Recently I did a week long spiritual tour with my dad in Nepal. We toured Buddhist sites; Lumbini, Kapilavastu, Devadaha in western Nepal, so amazing places connected to Buddha’s life and his family roots. As we did Pokhra and Dhulikhel to see the spectacular snow clad mountains. So friendly guide Dilip with depth knowledge from Majestic Himalaya was so good person and supportive. He kept us always happy and laughing. We can’t forget ever memories from Nepal.
