 This Annapurna base camp with Poon Hill  trek leads to the fabulous high mountains. The trekking route passes through many varied climatic condition from sub tropical to alpine. Thus inevitably the vegetation changes accordingly giving trekkers a wonderful variety of flora and fauna. You will meet many different ethnic groups – it is rather like trekking through a live, open museum.  You will experience some of the diverse but equally friendly people and cultures of Nepal. We start the trek with gradually ascend through the beautiful varied landscape of cultivated terraced field and lust forest of oaks, magnolia and rhododendron trees. The early morning hike to Poon hill (3230 meter) will give you the best possible panoramic sunrise view on whole fabulous Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This hike also allow time of proper acclimatization on the way to Annapurna Sanctuary. The combination of tiny thatch-roofed villages set among the narrow terraced fields with the backdrop of stunning snow-capped mountain ranges makes it is one of the most picturesque treks in the Himalayas.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
Day 02 : Kathmandu sightseeing and trek preparation
Day 03 : Fly to Pokhara and trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m), 30 min flight, 3 hrs trek
Day 04 : Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m), 6-7 hrs trek
Day 05 : Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m) with a visit to Poon Hill (3,210m), 6-7 hrs trek
Day 06 : Tadapani to Sinuwa (2,360m), 6-7 hrs trek
Day 07: Sinuwa to Deurali (3,200m), 6 hrs trek
Day 08 : Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) via MBC, 5- 6 hrs trek
Day 09 : Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo, 7-8 hrs trek
Day 10: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m), 5 - 6 hrs trek
Day 11: Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara, 6 hrs trek, 1 hour drive
Day 12: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Day 13: Final departure to sweet home
Day 01:  Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Majestic Himalaya representative will pick up you upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport and then head to hotel.  In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Majestic Himalaya. For dinner, you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture.

Day 02 :   Kathmandu sightseeing and trek preparation

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. Also our guide will give you short brief about our overall trek activities that we are gonna do. We get checked all required equipment this day.

Day 03 :  Fly to Pokhara and trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m), 30 min flight, 3 hrs trek

We fly to Pokhara early in the morning. As soon as we land in Pokhara, we can see Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare and others. From Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul and start the trek through the Birethanti, a beautiful village just beside the Modi river. This is also the entry and exit point of Annapurna region treks.

Day 04 :   Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m), 6-7 hrs trek

Today we trek upward to Ulleri and then continue to ascend the Ghorepani village via the  stone stairs and rain forest. As we are ascending we admire the spectacular scenery as Annapurna South looms large, coming and going from our view.  We pass waterfalls, tiny villages, and several tea-houses before reaching Ghorepani. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains.

Day 05 :  Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m) with a visit to Poon Hill (3,210m), 6-7 hrs trek

We get up early in the morning to reach Poon Hill just in time to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. Poon Hill is the most popular destination to enjoy close up views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and enjoy the sunrise from these majestic mountains. From Poon Hill, we also get incredible views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the highest mountains. After enjoying a cup of coffee, we trek back to Ghorepani. We have breakfast here then walk towards the east and climb a ridge. Our trail descends through rhododendron forests and waterfalls before we reach Tadapani.

Day 06 :  Tadapani to Sinuwa (2,360m), 6-7 hrs trek

Today, you will wake up to enjoy the beautiful view of Machhapuchhre, have breakfast and progress towards the base camp. At Tadapani, the trail divides for Ghandruk and Chhomrong. Leaving the trail leading to Ghandruk behind, you will now descend through the dense forest and the terraced fields to the bridge across the Kimrong River, enjoying the spectacular view of the upper Modi Valley. You will cross the bridge and gently hike to Taulung. From Taulung, a steep ascent will take you to one of the major Gurung village in this region, Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, following the stone steps, you will now descend to the bridge across the Chhomrong River, cross the river and then ascend to Sinuwa. Sinuwa is the overnight stop for this day. The night will be spent in a comfortable lodge in Sinuwa

Day 07:  Sinuwa to Deurali (3,200m), 6 hrs trek

Breakfast in Sinuwa and a long easy ascent through the forest of rhododendron, oak and bamboo will take you to Kuldhigar. From Kuldhigar, you will hike down to Bamboo. The trail ahead of bamboo is rich in bamboo forest, flowers and ferns. Keeping to the west of the Modi River, you will now hike to Dobhan and continue to Deurali. However, before reaching Deurali, you will get to enjoy the lush forest that ends around the Hinku cave. From Hinku cave to Deurali, the area is either covered with snow or the burnt out grasses. Deurali is the overnight stop for this night and the night will be spent in one of the comfortable lodge in Deurali.

Day 08 :  Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) via MBC, 5- 6 hrs trek

We follow the valley trail in a steady climb. The trail sticks to a rocky cliff and is sometimes steep. We walk on a somewhat flat path for a while before ascending to Machhapurchre Base Camp. From here we get excellent views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna mountains. We then turn left and begin ascending gently to the Annapurna Base Camp. During our ascent we can admire spectacular views of the Himalayan panorama. Walking further we reach the base camp of Mt. Annapurna and it is amazing. We are surrounded by magnificent peaks and the only way into this area is through the gorge we just hiked.

Day 09 :   Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo, 7-8 hrs trek

From Annapurna Base Camp our trail rapidly descends past the Machhapuchhre Base camp, Deurali, Himalayan Hotel and Doban and finally to Bamboo where we spend the night. Today’s trek is downhill so it shouldn’t be very difficult. Overnight in Bamboo.

Day 10:   Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m), 5 - 6 hrs trek

We retrace our step back to Chhomrong where we stop for lunch. From Chomrong it is a steep descent down to the Modi Khola valley. The stone steps to Chhomrong are equally tricky as they were before. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will be resting for the night. On the way, we enjoy our walking through rain forests and farms. After reaching Jhinu Danda, we can spend the rest of the afternoon taking a rest and relaxing. Overnight in Jhinu Danda.

Day 11:  Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara, 6 hrs trek, 1 hour drive

We leave Jhinu Danda and enjoy the beautiful hill landscape of western Nepal on our way to Naya Pul. We have lunch on the way. The actual trek to the Annapurna Sanctuary and back ends today. We  board our vehicle to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.

*If the road construction connecting Jhinu Danda to Naya Pul is complete, driving from Jhinu Danda to Pokhara could be another option.

Day 12:   Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

We fly to Kathmandu in the morning. After landing at the airport, we will be dropped off at our hotel in the city. We can spend the day taking the much needed rest or catch up on some last minute shopping.  Either way, we mark the end of our successful trip with a farewell dinner hosted by Himalayan Glacier where we can share our experiences of the trek before flying back home the next day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 13:  Final departure to sweet home

Today your Nepal stay is going to end !  Majestic Himalaya representative will drop you off at the airport approximately 1 hour before your scheduled flight. We wish sweet journey  for your way back to home.
