Naya Kanga Peak Climbing - 16 Days

Naya Kanga Peak 5844m is a shapely mountain that rises to the west of Ganja La in the Langtang Valley. The peak is widely popular among the trekking peaks of Nepal. Equally challenging and adventurous, Naya Kanga Peak Climbing with Nepal Guide Treks is an excellent opportunity for exploring and gaining the alpine peak climbing experience. From the summit, splendid views of Shishapangma 8046m, Langtang Lirung 7245m, Dorje Lakpa 6990m, Yala Peak 5500m, Gangchempo 6,387m and other snow capped peaks can be seen.


Outline Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrive at Kathmandu [1300m4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02 : Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche [1966m/6448ft] [6-7 hrs Drive]
Day 03 :  Dhunche to Thulo Syabru [2250m/7380ft, 4-5 hours
Day 04 : Thulo Syabru to Lama Hotel [2470m/8101ft, 5-6 hours
Day 05 : Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3330m/10922ft), 5-6 hours
Day 06 :  Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3870m/12693ft), 3-4 hours
Day 07  : Rest day at Kyangjin Gompa. Hike to Tsergo-Ri (4,985m/16350ft) & back to Kyangjin Gompa.
Day 08  : Kyangjin Gompa to Nyengang Kharka (4430m/14530ft), 4-5 hours
Day 09  :  Nyengang Kharka to Naya Kanga High Camp (4960m/16268ft), 4-5 hours
Day 10 : Rest/Acclimatization day at Naya Kanga High Camp.
Day 11 : Summit Naya Kanga Peak (5844m/19168ft) and back to Nyengang Kharka (8-9 hrs Climb)
Day 12 :  Nyengang Kharka to Langtang Village, 5-6 hours
Day 13 :  Langtang to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours
Day 14 :  Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (1467m/4811ft), 6-7 hours
Day 15 : Drive from Syabrubesi back to Kathmandu, 7-8 hours
Day 16  : Final departure to sweet home
Day 01:  Arrive at Kathmandu [1300m4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.

Our airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at Tribhuwan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will then be transferred to the hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have rest at Hotel.

Day 02:  Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche [1966m/6448ft] [6-7 hrs Drive]

After having our breakfast we will take a drive from Kathmandu heading north over the zigzag and hilly road that passes through a busy market town of Trishuli Bazaar. From there we will continue our drive journey over a gravel road all the way to Dhunche – the starting point of the trek. During our drive journey we can enjoy good views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himalayan Ranges. Besides, you will have chance to observe brief glimpses of village life along the drive route.

Day 03:   Dhunche to Thulo Syabru [2250m/7380ft, 4-5 hours

We will start our trek over a dusty motor road that leads to Syabrubesi. In short time we will arrive at a small village of Thulo Bharkhu which indicates the start of the main trekking trail. From there we will gradually climb through oaks and pines filled forest towards the small village of Barbal. We will continue to follow the trail that goes along the forest with glimpses of Ganesh Himal and the beautiful Langtang valley. We will continue to ascend to reach the village of Thulo Syabru which is largely inhabited by Tamang ethnic community. Here at Thulo Syabru we will visit a permit check post for our registration procedure.

Day 04:  Thulo Syabru to Lama Hotel [2470m/8101ft, 5-6 hours

We continue to descend and follow the trail that drops down to Langtang Khola and from there we turn east on the true left bank of the Langtang Khola, we continue to trek upstream with minor ups and downs towards Bamboo. We head towards the crossing of a suspension bridge before crossing a couple of landslide areas and then climb a switchback to reach the small village of Rimche. From Rimche we will follow the trail that climbs a little before dropping down to reach the village of Lama Hotel.

Day 05:  Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3330m/10922ft), 5-6 hours

We enter the dense forest filled with oaks, birch , hemlock and mountain bamboo where we will have opportunity to spot wild monkeys and several species of birds. Our trail continues through forest passing through a lone teahouse at Gumnachok and from there climb steeply towards Ghoratabela. There is an army check post at Ghoratabela where trekking permits will be checked. From here we will trek through small settlements of Chyamki and Kangtangsa before making a short climb to reach Langtang village.

Day 06:   Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3870m/12693ft), 3-4 hours

We head for an easy climb through two Bhotia hamlets – Mundu and Sindum with great views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo and Langshisa Ri. We will continue on a trail that climbs the terminal moraine of Lirung Glacier and decends down to the gompa and many teahouses of Kyangjin Gompa. Here we can visit a cheese factory established as a contribution by Swiss Aid Programmes.

Day 07 :  Rest day at Kyangjin Gompa. Hike to Tsergo-Ri (4,985m/16350ft) & back to Kyangjin Gompa.

Acclimatization is very crucial in higher altitudes to avoid mental and physical illness. Today we spend our day for acclimatization and making exploration around Kyangjin Gompa. Above Kyangjin to the north there are numerous hills that provides good acclimatization with magnificent views of surrounding high peaks and beautiful valleys. We will make an adventurous hike to Tsergo-Ri at 4985 meters for magnificent views of Langtang Lirung and the surrounding high peaks.

Day 08 :  Kyangjin Gompa to Nyengang Kharka (4430m/14530ft), 4-5 hours

We descend downhill for about twenty minutes to cross a suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola and then follow the uphill trail that climbs all the way to Nyengang Kharka. We will trek along the trail with juniper shrubs on both sides and with good views of Langtang Lirung and the glacier.

Day 09 :   Nyengang Kharka to Naya Kanga High Camp (4960m/16268ft), 4-5 hours

We will walk over the trail that goes over and along the glacier. We will continue to climb on a steep trail that heads up to a good camping site where we will set up our High Camp. During our climbing trek we will have great views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo, Yansi Tsenji Peak and other surrounding peaks.

Day 10:  Rest/Acclimatization day at Naya Kanga High Camp.

To ensure the successful summit climb of Naya Kanga Peak, we will have to spend one more day for acclimatization at the high camp before climbing to the summit of Naya Kanga Peak. Today we will make sure that everyone is properly acclimatized and our Sherpa crew will make necessary checks on climbing gears and other equipment.

Day 11:  Summit Naya Kanga Peak (5844m/19168ft) and back to Nyengang Kharka (8-9 hrs Climb)

We will make an ascend to the summit by following the guidance of our recommended climbing experts. Once at the top of the summit of Naya Kanga Peak, we are rewarded with striking views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Pemthang Karpo, Gangchenpo and other snow capped high peaks including Shishapangma that rises across the border of Tibet. After spending quality time at the top, we descend following the same trail back to Nyengang Kharka.

Day 12:   Nyengang Kharka to Langtang Village, 5-6 hours

After successful summit of Naya Kanga Peak , we retrace our steps by following the same trail that descends down to a suspension bridge over Langtang Khola and then make a climb towards Kyangin Gompa. From there we will follow the trail that is a rather easy downhill trek all the way to Langtang village.

Day 13:   Langtang to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours

This day, we leave Langtang village and continue to retrace our steps on the main trail that heads back to Ghoratabela. We continue our trekking with an easy downhill walk through the dense forest filled with oaks, birch, hemlock and Himalayan bamboos to finally arrive at Lama Hotel.

Day 14:   Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (1467m/4811ft), 6-7 hours

Today is the last day of our trek. We will enjoy our trek today with rather easy downhill trekking that passes along several villages and terraced farmlands, through dense forest filled with rhododendron, oak and pine trees.

Day 15:  Drive from Syabrubesi back to Kathmandu, 7-8 hours

We take a drive from Syabrubesi along zigzag hilly roads back to Kathmandu. During our drive journey we will have opportunity to observe the daily activities of local people for survival while we drive along several villages and towns.

Day 16 :  Final departure to sweet home

Nepal stay comes to end. Majestic Himalaya representative will drop us off at the Tribhuwan International Airport a few hours before the scheduled flight.
