The trek to Poon Hill is a short trekking to the Annapurna region which is popular for majestic views for Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Fish Tail (6,993m) and Mt. Annapurna (8,091m) mountain ranges. The massive mountains scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs communities, wild species, and dense rhododendron forests with full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys will be the main attraction of this short trek. At the climax of this trek you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy with one of the most spectacular mountain setting on Earth. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits, the Himalayan giants, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before your eyes.The most stunning viewing point of Poon Hill is the prime destination of this trip. The hill offers a majestic sunrise over the sky touching mountains. A glimpse of the snow-capped peaks turning from grey to pink to brilliant white is just awe-inspiring.  Poon Hill Trek is a relatively easy trek which can be done all year round, although autumn and spring are considered the most impressive.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m), transfer to hotel
Day 02 : Kathmandu valley sightseeing & getting prepared
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Ghandruk (1940m), max 7 hrs
Day 04 : Ghandruk to Tadhapani (2706m), max 5 hrs trek
Day 05 : Tadapani to Ghorepami (2855), max 6 hrs trek
Day 06: Trek to Poon Hill (3210m) then Ulleri (1930m).
Day 07 : Drive back to Pokhara (1030), max 4 hrs
Day 08 : Pokhara sightseeing
Day 09 : Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Day 10: Final departure to sweet home
Day 01 :  Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m), transfer to hotel

We will be waiting you at Kathmandu international airport holding a signboard with your full name so that you could recognize us so easily. When you come out, we will take private car to get 3*** hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Shortly you will do check in and get refreshed. Our tour leader Dilip will explain you about the overall glimpse of our full 10 days tour then in evening we will have a fantastic welcome dinner together at one of the Nepalese famous kitchen which introduces you a very unique Nepalese cuisine.

Day 02 :  Kathmandu valley sightseeing & getting prepared

This is the valley where flourished Buddhism and Hinduism together over the centuries. The ancient architectures of Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples are just spectacular. As this is the capital city of Nepal, people live together  from different walk of life and ethnic communities. After a breakfast, we start our guiding tour to UNESCO heritage sites; Kathmandu Durbar square, Monkey temple and Bouddhanath stupa; the major Buddhist sites. Also if the time permits, we do Pashupatinath temple which is the biggest Hindu holy shrine in this Indian subcontinent.

Day 03:  Drive from Kathmandu to Ghandruk (1940m), max 7 hrs

Early in the morning we take tourist bus and we leave Kathmandu valley crossing the Thankot boarder and we climb down to Trishuli river. We fallow Trishuli river up to Muglin bazaar then we cross it. We pass through different green hill tops, paddy fields,  local markets, rivers and traditional villages on the way to Ghandruk

Day 04 :  Ghandruk to Tadhapani (2706m), max 5 hrs trek

Trek to Tadhapani from Birethanti is so easy. We fallow the bank of Modi river for some 1.5Km then we do gradual climb crossing the beautiful Ghandruk village inhabited by the bravest Gurung people. We will have so hygienic lunch at Ghandruk with having spectacular view of massive Mt. Annapurna South, Himchuli, Gangapurna, Fishtail and some others. After lunch, really our wilderness treks starts. We make our way through the mix forest of rhododendron and alpine trees. In the spring, we could see the full blooms of rhododendron. So all the hills along the way look like new bride in wedding. After walking max 3:30hrs, we get Tadhapani. You feel so close to the mountain, massive mountains are just front of your eye.

Day 05 :  Tadapani to Ghorepami (2855), max 6 hrs trek

Steep trek for about 2hrs will take us to Ulleri (2070m). We will cross the Magar village of Banthanti from where we can get spectacular views of Machhapuchhre Mountain (6997m), Hiunchuli Mountain (6441m) and Annapurna South Mountain (7219m).  We will cross the small river and climb to Nangethanti. We will arrive at Ghorepani from where we can get soaring views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I and other mountains.

Day 06:  Trek to Poon Hill (3210m) then Ulleri (1930m).

Poon Hill is the most popular for best sunrise view over Annapurna Himalayas. We will wake up very early in the morning for the Poon Hill climb. About an hour of climb will take us to Poon Hill viewpoint. We can get sunrise view over Dhaulagiri Mountain (8167m), Annapurna I Mountain (8091m), Annapurna II Mountain (7937m), Annapurna III Mountain (7855m), Annapurna IV Mountain (7525m), Annapurna South Mountain (729m), Nilgiri Mountain (6940m), Tukuche Mountain (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and other mountains.We will return to hotel in Ghorepani for breakfast and then take descending trail to Ulleri village from where we can get views of Annapurna South, Annapurna II.

Day 07 :   Drive back to Pokhara (1030), max 4 hrs

After the breakfast, we drive back to Pokhara, one of the naturally and culturally most beautiful town in Nepal. The private drive takes max 2 hrs. We will have lunch at Pokhara then we make some tour to Pokhara’s top most touristic destinations. At the evening, we will have dinner at Lake View Resort, just side of massive Fewa lake where we can have  enjoy of  different Nepalese cultural dances, folk tunes and songs.

Day 08 :  Pokhara sightseeing

Pokhara is famous for sightseeing, mountain views and many adventurous outdoor activities. We will touring following beautiful places:

1.Devis fall – It is known as Patale Chhango (waterfall), situated about 2 km south-west of Lakeside Pokhara. It has got a famous belief that a foreigner named David was swept away and never found from here. It has made gorges and flows through the caves.

2.International Mountain Museums-The International Mountain Museum is a place to get historical information of mountaineering. It includes all information about the highest peaks, climbing activities, lifestyle in the Himalayas and challenges.

3. Phewa Lake & Barahi Temple- It is a second largest lake in Nepal and a central tourist attraction in Pokhara. It is also a spot for water fun activities like boating and kayaking. The splendid views of the Annapurna Himalayan range are dazzling from the lake. Barahi temple is a famous religious monument in Pokhara, lies in the center of Phewa Lake.

Day 09 :  Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

We fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon or early in the morning. We will have a farewell dinner in the evening.We can spend the day taking the much needed rest or catch up on some last minute shopping.  Our flying to Kathmandu will give us a incredible views of sky touching Himalayas.

Day 10:  Final departure to sweet home

This is the last day for you in Nepal. Our company staff will take you at Kathmandu international airport to catch your international flight to sweet home. We promise you to meet again in this magical planet Nepal. We wish you a very happy journey onwards to sweet home! Sweet home!!Sweet home!!!.
