Luxury Poon Hill Trek - 10 days

The trek to Poon Hill is a short trekking to the Annapurna region which is popular for majestic views for Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Fish Tail (6,993m) and Mt. Annapurna (8,091m) mountain ranges. The massive mountains scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs communities, wild species, and dense rhododendron forests with full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys will be the main attraction of this short trek. At the climax of this trek you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy with one of the most spectacular mountain setting on Earth. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits, the Himalayan giants, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before your eyes.The most stunning viewing point of Poon Hill is the prime destination of this trip. The hill offers a majestic sunrise over the sky touching mountains. A glimpse of the snow-capped peaks turning from grey to pink to brilliant white is just awe-inspiring.  Poon Hill Trek is a relatively easy trek which can be done all year round, although autumn and spring are considered the most impressive.


Outline Itinerary

Day 01  : Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, welcome dinner
Day 02  : Drive to Pokhara

Day 01 :  Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, welcome dinner

Our official staff will meet you at the arrival gate of Kathmandu airport holding a signboard with your name. You will then be transferred to your chosen hotel. An evening we will have welcome dinner together in a typical Nepali restaurant.

Day 02 :  Drive to Pokhara

Early in the morning we take tourist bus and we leave Kathmandu valley crossing the Thankot boarder and we climb down to Trishuli river. We fallow Trishuli river up to Muglin bazaar then we cross it. We see different hill tops and traditional villages on the way to Pokhara.

Day 03 :  Pokhara– Nayapul –Tikhedhunga

In the morning time we will have mountain flight to Pokhara and we drive 42km distance from Pokhara to Nayapul (1050m). Following Modi River, we will walk past forest of blooming rhododendron and cross small stream. We will cross Birethanti after about half an hour of trek and arrive at Tirkhedhunga.

Day 04 :  Tikhedhunga-Ghorepani

Steep trek for about 2hrs will take us to Ulleri (2070m). We will cross the Magar village of Banthanti from where we can get spectacular views of Machhapuchhre Mountain (6997m), Hiunchuli Mountain (6441m) and Annapurna South Mountain (7219m).  We will cross the small river and climb to Nangethanti. We will arrive at Ghorepani from where we can get soaring views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I and other mountains.

Day 05 :  Ghorepani-Poonhill-Tadapani

Poonhill is popular for best sunrise view in Pokhara. We will rise very early and reach the base of Poonhill. About an hour of climb will take us to Poonhill viewpoint. We can get sunrise view over Dhaulagiri Mountain (8167m), Annapurna I Mountain (8091m), Annapurna II Mountain (7937m), Annapurna III Mountain (7855m), Annapurna IV Mountain (7525m), Annapurna South Mountain (729m), Nilgiri Mountain (6940m), Tukuche Mountain (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and other mountains. We will return to hotel in Ghorepani for breakfast and then take descending trail to Tadapani village from where we can get views of Annapurna South, Annapurna II, Fishtail and other mountains.

Day 06 :  Tadapani-Ghandruk

3hrs of easy walk through forest of oak, rhododendron and other alpine flowers will take us to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the large Gurung village. We can get striking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna III, Hiunchuli and other Mountains from viewpoint in Ghandruk. Homestay in Ghandruk is a pleasant experience.

Day 07 :  Ghandruk-Pokhara

After good breakfast, few hrs we walk down and we will have car ride to Pokhara. If time allow us, we will make some city tours around the Pokhara.

Day 08 :  Fly to Kathmandu

The flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu is also ,most exciting part of our journey. During the 30 Min. flight time you can see massive mountain ranges to the north.

Day 09 :  Kathmandu Valley Tour

Pashupatinath Temple –  Situated about 3 miles (5km) east of Kathmandu. Pathupatinath, with its two tiered golden roof and silver doors, is considered one of the holiest shrines of Hindus. Pashupatinath Temple Is a listed UNESCO Heritage Monument.

Stupa of Boudhanath  – Next we go to the 14th century Tibetan Stupa of Boudhanath that lies about 5 miles (8km) east of Kathmandu. This ancient colossal Stupa is one of the biggest in the world and the center of Buddhism in the world. It was listed in the UNESCO Heritage Monument in 1979.

Swyanmbhungath Stupa – After having lunch at around the Boudhanath stupa, we go to Swyanmbhungath  Stupa, known as the “Monkey Temple” among visitors from abroad, Swayambhunath sits atop its hill, overlooking most parts of the valley.

Day 10:  Departure to sweet home

1 hour prior to your flight time, we will transfer you to the airport to fly to your onward destination. Sweet home!
