The Tsum valley trekking is ideal for those who want to explore the remote and less trodden hidden valley on fully camping trekking in Nepal. This valley having border with Tibet is open for trekking in 2008 only offers the unique trekking experience of natural beauty with its fascinating culture. The valley once being part of Tibet looks completely different in term of people and cultural from other parts of Nepal. The people of Tsum valley are Tibetan origin with their own ancient form of dialect, art, culture and religion; they still practice polyandry system marrying a girl between all the brothers in a family. Very few adventure travelers have made it to this high and mysterious hidden valley, which used to be an important trade link junction between Nepal and Tibet.

Day 10: Chokhang Paro to Nile (3361m), max 6 hrs trek

Day 01 :  Arrive Kathmandu(1300m) & Transfer to Hotel

We will be waiting you at Kathmandu international airport holding a signboard with your full name so that you could recognize us so easily. When you come out, we will take private car to get 3*** hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Shortly you will do check in and get refreshed. Our tour leader Dilip will explain you about the overall glimpse of our trek then in evening we will have a fantastic welcome dinner together at one of the Nepalese famous kitchen which introduces you a very unique Nepalese cuisine.

Day 02 :  Kathmandu sightseeing and getting prepared

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. Also our guide will give you short brief about our overall trek activities that we are gonna do. We get checked all required equipment this day.

Day 03:  Drive to Arughat (600m), max 8 hrs

This is the valley where flourished Buddhism and Hinduism together over the centuries. The ancient architectures of Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples are just spectacular. As this is the capital city of Nepal, people live together  from different walk of life and ethnic communities. After a breakfast, we start our guiding tour to UNESCO heritage sites; Kathmandu Durbar square, Monkey temple and Bouddhanath stupa; the major Buddhist sites. Also if the time permits, we do Pashupatinath temple which is the biggest Hindu holy shrine in this Indian subcontinent.

Day 04:  Drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola (710m), max 7 hrs

We start our day  early in the morning, on the way we have breakfast. We drive from Kathmandu to Dhading Besi on a nice paved road enjoying the views of the greenvalleys, farming fields, traditionally built houses and rivers. The drive from Dhading Besi to Soti Khola via Arughat is a bumpy rough road.

Day 05:  Sotikhola to Machha Khola (900m), max 7 hrs trek

We cross Sotikhola with the fresh view of waterfalls and rivers. Then trek through the dense forest, to reach a ridge above the the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail descends slowly until you climb again to mountain ridge to Almara. Pass the forest trail to arrive at Riden Gaon. The valley here cuts into another side of the river to enter Budhi Gandaki. At Lambesi, the trail follows down to the sandy river bed of Budhi Gandaki

Day 06 :  Machha Khola to Jagat (1410m), max 7 hrs trek

The whole valley here becomes steeper to the limits till the route to cross then switches to the left bank by a suspension bridge. The trekking trail is quite exposed and challenging in some places. We walk through the  Gurung villages like Khorla Besi, Tatopani, Dobhan, and Yuru Khola along the Budhi Gandaki valley. Today’s walk will be adventurous on rugged terrains with the jaw-dropping views of snow-capped mountains.

Day 07 :  Jagat to Lokpa (2240m), max 7 hrs trek

On about about 2 and half hours from Jagat we reach Sirdibas village. We then pass the small village of Ghote Khola before crossing the Budhi Gandaki on one of the longest suspension bridges. We cross the Budhi Gandaki yet again, the trail hugging the cliff-side, up and over ridge backs. Within 2 hrs the trail splits, with one route heading northwest up the Manaslu Circuit and our route heading northeast along the Syar river toward the Tsum Valley. After a steep climb through pine forest the trail lead us the  Lokpa village.

Day 08 :  Lokpa to to Chumling (2600m), max 4 hrs trek

We take an ascending route to reach Chumling stopping for lunch along the way. Chumling is located on the south face of the Shingri Himal. This day we will enjoy a pleasant hike up to the Gombas of Chumling. This day is challenging as it is an ascending path that stretches on almost the entire route.

Day 09 :  Chumling (2385m) to Chhokang Paro (3031m), max 6 hrs trek

Today we  start our trekking for a couple of hours gradually ascending. From here the pine forest is quite dense. Then the trail heads up to Rentsam village. After passing this village you will walk for about four hours steeply up to Chhokangparo, which is situated in a nice valley. This village has fields growing barley, wheat, buckwheat, potato etc. There we see Yaks, Cows, and Blue Sheep. This is the main village in the Tsum valley region, where there are more than 50 houses.

Day 10:  Chokhang Paro to Nile (3361m), max 6 hrs trek

While climbing above Chokhangparo, better to be careful of altitude problems. Walk past Lamagaon crossing rope suspension bridge to the Rachen Gompa, which is also well known as Nunnery Gompa too. We make a small visit and then we cross the Shiar Khola. Continue walking through the well managed villages Lar (micro hydro power), Phurbe and Pangdun. Leaving old historic Stupa of Bhudda in a way crossing the village of Chhule, climb upstream and cross the bridge to finally arrive at Nile. If we consider we can make your visit to a famous monastery of Chhule which is located in the top of area.

Day 11:  Nile to Mu Gompa (3700m), max 3 hrs trek

We are now almost close to the Tibetan border. Walk to the west bank of the valley through the Tibetan landscapes. Climb up to the Mu Gompa.
As we get more time here, at the same day we explore around the Mu Gompa village, the biggest religious community in the district and the Gompa lies at the most remote part the Tsum Valley. Incredible local Tibetan based cultures and beauties of nature can be have had here.

Day 12:  Mu Gompa to Burgi Village (3245m), max 5 hrs trek

Trek back through Chhuleaand Phurbe, on the east bank of the Shiar Khola. Finally we arrive at Burgi village. The Burgi village is a small beautiful village.  Climb up to the Milarepa’s Cave Milarepa Cave, is known for its mesmerizing glimpses of Poshyop Glacier, Kipu Himal and Churke himal.

Day 13 :  Burgi village to Chumling (2386), max 6 hrs trek

Hiking further into the valley, the nature will regain its greenery and eventually you’ll cross a bridge over the Sarpu Khola, the river made from the Syakpa Glacier. Once you reach the lower end of the valley, you’ll reach Chumling (2386m) for your second night in the village and a chance to see your hosts again.

Day 14 :   Chumling to Philim (1570m), max 7 hrs trek

After having our breakfast, we will start our journey to Philim. We will descend down through green forest up to Philim. Crossing the river we hike up again to Lokpa from where we will again descend down and trek a bit flat before reaching Philim. It takes around max 7 hrs in total from Chumling to Philim.

Day 15:  Philim to Lhapubesi, max 6 hrs trek

Today we trek down to Lhapubesi after breakfast passing by various rivers, green terrace, small villages, farming fields. It would be easy walk with the spectacular view of Nepalese landscape and local lifestyles on the way. It does take max 6 hrs.

Day 16:   Lhapubesi to Arughat, max 5 hrs trek

Today would be our last trek, we walk down to Arughat. Very easy walking down today we have with no any rush. we spend overnight here and enjoy last day of trekking by having dinner together will all staff of the trekking. Even we create some fun by singing and dancing ourselves.

 

Day 17:  Drive back to Kathmandu

Back to Kathmandu along the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers with splendid views of green hills, mountains, farming terraces and villages on both sides of the road.

Day 18:  Drive back from Arughat to Kathmandu

The drive from Arughat to Kathmandu via Besi Sahar offers one an opportunity to enjoy both hill and mountain landscapes. The drive is often along the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers.

Day 19:  Departure to sweet home

Today your Nepal stay is going to end !  Majestic Himalaya representative will drop you off at the airport approximately 1 hour before your scheduled flight. We wish sweet journey  for your way back to home.
