Langtang Gosaikunda trek combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkund. Visit the beautiful Langtang National park and then trek to the end of the valley to view the wonderful mountains views. Following the Trisuli River north out of Kathmandu, we travel through Trisuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubensi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park. We then swing east into the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as we travel up along a gorge-like, lower section of the valley. We pass through oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on our way to the Tamang village of Langtang. Over the years this Gosainkunda lake has become one of the sacred pilgrimage sites for Shamans, the traditional witch doctors, as well as many Hindu and Buddhist devotees.

Day 01 :  Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m)

We will be waiting you at Kathmandu international airport holding a signboard with your full name so that you could recognize us so easily. When you come out, we will take private car to get 3*** hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Shortly you will do check in and get refreshed. Our tour leader Dilip will explain you about the overall glimpse of our full 14 days tour then in evening we will have a fantastic welcome dinner together at one of the Nepalese famous kitchen which introduces you a very unique Nepalese cuisine.

Day 02 :  Kathmandu valley sightseeing & getting prepared

This is the valley where flourished Buddhism and Hinduism together over the centuries. The ancient architectures of Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples are just spectacular. As this is the capital city of Nepal, people live together  from different walk of life and ethnic communities.  After a breakfast, we start our guiding tour to UNESCO world heritage sites;  Kathmandu Durbar square, Monkey temple and Bouddhanath stupa; the major Buddhist sites. Also if the time permits, we do Pashupatinath temple which is the biggest Hindu holy shrine in this Indian subcontinent.

Day 03 :   Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,420m), max 7 hrs drive

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi by bus via Trisuli Bazar and Dhunche(popular town). You will witness nice scenery of White Mountains of Mt. Annapurna II, Manasalu, Ganesh Himal and other minor peaks are visible from Kakani (along the route) and as well as green scenery of hillock, rivers, village, while driving to Syaprubesi. Syabrubesi is an attractive village with large stone houses.

Day 04 :  Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2340m), max 6 hrs trek

The first day excitement trail crosses through the Bhote koshi River flowing down from Tibet and following the Langtang Khola. After a visit to the Gompa of Guru Rinpoche, follow the stone-paved main street out of town over Langtang Khola. After crossing the suspension bridge the trail gradually ascend up to Bamboo passing by landslide. The trail goes through the sub tropical forest which is cover by oak and maple, massive spruce, fir and blue pine. We pass through the forests of oak and rhododendron. The variety wildlife; yellow-throated martens, wild boars, Langur monkeys, red pandas and Himalayan black bears etc. are inhabitance of the forest. Afterwards, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m). And at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 05:  Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,480m), max 6 hrs trek

Today we have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghora Tabela where we stop for lunch. The surrounding area is dense wild habitat and many small babblers with lot of herbal can be found here. After lunch we walk another three hours on the scenic trail takes us to Langtang village where we stop for the evening.

Day 06 :  Langtang village to Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m), max 4 hrs trek

Get up an early morning at 5:30 am. The trail climbs gradually to Sindum and to Yamphu (3640m). Crossing the Laja Khola then climbs a moraine to a viewpoint where you can see Kyanjin Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung. After Kyanjin Gompa, climb to the top of Chorkari ri (5050m). Enjoying spectacular panoramic mountain views of the whole Langtang Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung (7,244m), Langshisa Ri(6,810m), Gyanghempo (6,888m) Ganjala peak, Nayakang.

Day 07 :  Rest day at Kyanjin Gompa

Today is the rest and exploration day of the trekking .We visit the monastery and the cheese factory or may walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyanjin Ri(4350m) and Tserko Ri (5,000m), which is highest point of this trek. Hike easy for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang Lirung, Langtang range, Kinshung, Yansa Tsenji. We also have options to do a side trip to Langshisa Kharka. There are several alternatives sided trips, the surroundings areas of North having many smaller uninhabited valleys.

Day 08 :  Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2340m), max 7 hrs trek

We will have our meal in the lodge before starting descending down to Lama Hotel. The trail is same that we used while ascending up. We have no rush as the trail is mostly downhill and short. We will pass the trail enjoying the beautiful views surrounded and at the same time pushing them far and far as we continue. Lama Hotel is situated alongside of Langtang River, we will have to spend whole night hearing the sound of thundering river

Day 09 :  Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru Village (1,900m), max 6 hrs trek

Today our trail leads again through bamboo & rhododendron forest where we may see the local wild boar as well as other animal and birds on the route to Thulo Syabru. En route we have marvelous and close-up view of Ganesh Himal. Firstly easy down hill follows the river bank but last part steeply up hill for couple of hours to get to the village at Thulo Syabru.

Day 10 :  Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa (3330m), max 5 hrs trek

Today we walk around 4-5 hours through dense forest of pine and rhododendron to reach Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari) which is our overnight spot. The trail from here is mostly uphill with typically Himalayan terrain and last few hours remaining forested with open areas giving excellent views when looking back the way we have come. After arrival in hotel refreshed and enjoy visiting cheese factory as well as terrain forested landscape.

Day 11:  Shin Gompa to Gosainkunda Lake (4380), max 7 hrs trek

The first part of the trail emerges and we steadily climb up to Laurebinayak and the top of Laurebinayak gives you an exotic feeling. With a steep ascent all the way to Gosaikunda. You follow a rugged trail with dramatic views to the Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north also across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lake of Gosaikunda. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairab Kunda and Gosainkunda. According to legend Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world.

Day 12:  Gosainkunda to Dhunche, max 7 hrs trek

We are coming to end of our two weeks mountain adventure. We have our last day of walking. The trail steeply descends towards Dhunche until we reach small stream coming from Gosainkunda lake. From here we will have gradual descending all the way to Dhunche. This is another easy day on Langtang Gosainkunda Lake Trekking. Dhunche is one of the biggest town in this area, have nicer lodges for accommodation. Once we reach we may look for our accommodation and then prepare for long and tiring drive next day. Enjoy last day in the Himalayas.

Day 13 :  Drive back to Kathmandu, max 7 hrs

Today, we drive back to Kathmandu via same way which takes 7 hrs to get in Kathmandu valley. Arrival in Kathmandu, we will head to the hotel and rest of the time, simply relax at the hotel or explore the local area around.

Day 14 :  Final departure to sweet home

Today your Nepal stay is going to end ! Majestic Himalaya representative will drop you off at the airport approximately 1 hour before your scheduled flight. We wish sweet journey  for your way back to home.
