Kanchanjunga expedition is one of the popular expeditions in Nepal for climbing 8000m. peaks in Nepal. Kanchanjunga , the third highest mountain in the world lies on the border of Nepal & Sikkim. It was believed to be the highest mountain in the world from 1838 until 1849. It is the most easterly of the great 8,000 meter peaks of the Himalaya with an enormous mountain mass, and many peaks rise from its narrow icy ridges. Climbing Kanchanjunga was first attempted in 1905 but was succeeded only in 1955 by a British team. The name Kanchanjunga refers Five Treasuries of Great Snow which means five high peaks that rise from the surrounding glaciers. While climbing Kanchenjunga, avalanches are common which pose a great threat to the mountaineers. We follow the popular Kanchanjunga trekking trail to reach the base camp for the expedition on kanchanjunga.
